These East Coast transplants had always been avid gardeners. They endeavored to transform their builder-grade front garden to a blooming pollinators’ haven. While keeping the traditionally colorful East Coast aesthetic, we selected shrubs and perennials that would stand up to the desiccating winter winds and abrasive summer sun of our high and dry climate. In this garden, there is always something of interest whether the bright petals of coreopsis in late summer, the red bark of the dogwoods in winter, or the double daffodils making their way through the mulch to welcome spring.
